Adapt and Overcome to Live Abundantly

Adapt - Viktor E. Frankl said, “When we are no longer able to control a situation – we are challenged to change ourselves.” Like it or not, change is upon us. The COVID-19 virus pandemic has forced us to change our perceptions. It has forced businesses to adjust their daily operations and, in many cases, close their doors. It has resulted in some of the highest unemployment numbers we have ever seen. Many people are hoping for things to get back to normal. I expect our perceptions of normal will be changed. There will be opportunities ahead. Will you be ready for those opportunities? If you fail to prepare you may miss out on new opportunities. The time to prepare by investing in your personal development and growth is now!

Aware – Are you aware of your current situation, your strengths, your opportunities to increase your ability to provide greater value to the marketplace? Asking the right questions can pull these details into focus and bring clarity so you can create plans to move forward into the future. Otherwise you will just drift along with the tossing and turning of the waves. Don’t settle for drifting along, gain awareness and take control of what you can control and design your destiny.

Attitude – Do you have the attitude of a victim or a victor? We must decide to have a positive attitude to help us get through the stages of grief as fast as possible. Having a victim attitude will only hold us back and limit our ability to move forward. We either dwell on the things we cannot control or we can decide to take charge of the things we can. Our attitude determines the way we look at things - whether we see limitations, or possibilities.

Adjust – Jim Rohn said, “It is the set of the sails, not the direction of the wind that determines which way we will go.” Think about it, the sailor cannot control the wind and yet they have harnessed the wind to carry them across oceans and seas. They set their sails to control the direction of their ships regardless of the direction of the wind. They also had the courage to lose sight of the shore in order to discover new lands. Similarly, we can make adjustments to help us get where we want to go, if we have the courage to do so.

Action – We can have great ideas, but if there is no action we will find ourselves stuck right where we are. If you are not where you want to be, do something about it. If you realize your future depends on what you do today, do something about it. The farmer knows he must plant seeds in the spring to be able to harvest in the fall. We must have the wisdom of the farmer and take action today to enable a better future.

So what will you do to make sure you can Adapt for a brilliant and abundant future?

  1. Decide to have the Attitude of a victor not a victim.

  2. Increase your Awareness and invest in your personal development to grow through these challenging times.

  3. Plan Actions that you can control that enable you to Adjust your direction and provide the outcomes you desire.
